UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team has been selected for the 2025 NCAA Division II East Regional, as announced by the NCAA on Monday. A total of 72 teams and 24 individuals were chosen across all four regionals. The Cardinals earned a team bid and will compete alongside 17 other programs: Findlay, Grand Valley State, Missouri-St. Louis, UIndy, Tiffin, Ferris State, Ashland, Gannon, Wayne State, Davenport, Drury, McKendree, Maryville, Ohio Dominican, Franklin Pierce, Glenville State, and Illinois Springfield.
SVSU women's golf head coach Mike Masten shared his thoughts on the selection:
"Our women's team has had a strong season, and we are very thankful to be in this position. Making it to the Regionals was one of our goals from the very beginning, and we're incredibly proud of them for battling through every event, one shot at a time. They know The Meadows course very well, and that familiarity will serve us well. We should all be excited – but also prepared – for the challenge ahead."
The East Regional will take place at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Michigan, from Monday, May 5, through Wednesday, May 7. The NCAA Division II Championships will be held May 13-17 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
This marks the third team appearance for the women's program and the first since 2023, while it is the sixth regional appearance for the men's team and the first since 2017. It is the first time in program history that both teams have qualified for the NCAA Division II Regionals.
