Women’s Golf Finishes Third at Warrior Invitational

WASHINGTON, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf program competed in two rounds at The Orchards Golf Club in the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wayne State. SVSU had eight golfers, three individuals, as the team shot 625 to place third out of nine teams.

Megan Thiravong led the team finishing fifth out of 51 golfers. She shot rounds of 79 and 73 for a total of 152. Brook Herbstreit, Christina Nagy, and Marissa GeRue all finished 15 over and tied for 17th. Herbstreit shot rounds of 80 and 79, Nagy shot 81 and 77, and GeRue shot 82 and 77 to all finish with a total of 159. Hannah Hauser rounded out the team with rounds of 78 and 85 to finish 24th with a final of 163.

Aileen Cosentino led the individuals for SVSU shooting 81 and 85 and was the lone golfer to sink an eagle. Cosentino got a hole in one on the 12th hole of round one on Monday. Andie Martin shot 86 and 80 to finish 34th as Megan Kozlowski shot 81 and 89 to round out competition for the Cardinals.

Up Next: Saginaw Valley women's golf heads to Ohio next Monday for the William Beal Fall Invitational hosted by Findlay. The Cardinals will play two days of golf at the Findlay Country Club on Monday, September 30 and Tuesday, October 1.
