Women’s Golf Takes Fourth at NC4K Classic

GROVE CITY, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf program wrapped up the final tournament before the GLIAC Championships on Tuesday afternoon. The Cardinals took fourth out of 14 teams playing two rounds at Pinnacle Golf Club Course in Grove City, Ohio. SVSU shot rounds of 309 and 313 for a total of 622.

Sydney Wesson led the way tied for 11th with rounds of 77 and 76 as she shot nine over with a total of 153. Brook Herbstreit took 15th out of 88 golfers with rounds of 77 and 78 for a total of 155. Megan Thiravong tied for 19th as she shot 80 on Monday and 77 on Tuesday. Mandy Ehrlich had the best scoring round with 75 and followed with an 86 while Megan Kozlowski shot 82 and 83 for the final team scoring. Andie Martin totaled 162 with rounds of 80 and 82 as she golfed individually.

Saginaw Valley was the second-best team on par threes averaging 3.42 strokes per hole. They also finished fourth in par fours with an average of 4.43. The Cardinals had the third most pars totaling 112, just two short of the lead. They also had 20 birdies which was good for fourth. Wesson tied for sixth-best on par threes out of the 88 competitors shooting one over. She also was second best in pars with 26. Herbstreit led the Cardinals on par fours and was tied eighth overall averaging 4.20 strokes and was four over. Herbstreit totaled 23 pars which tied her for fifth-best.

Women's golf has 10 days off until they head to Augusta, Michigan for the GLIAC Championships. The three-day competition takes place April 19-21 at Stonehedge North Golf Course .
