OWENSBORO, Ky. -- The SVSU Women's Golf team sits in third place after the opening round of the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational after posting a first day score of 318. 

The Cardinals sit eight strokes behind second place McKendree and Illinois-Springfield leads with a score of 301. 

Alexa Marston is tied for third place after an opening day score of 75 (+3). She sits just two strokes off the lead after 18 holes. 

With a 76 (+4), Emily Barker sits in a tie for 6th place after round one. 

Annika Neumann posted an 82 (+10) and is in a tie for 30th place while Katie Boyd is tied for 46th with an 85 (+13) to round-out the team's scoring.
