Lady Cardinals finish 8th at 2017 GLIAC Championships

NASHPORT, Ohio - The SVSU women's golf team completed the final round of the team's first-ever appearance in the GLIAC Championships. The tournament were held at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

The Cardinals concluded the tournament with scores of 332, 348 and 336 and finished in eighth place overall. The three-round score of 1,016 was five shots behind Tiffin for seventh place and one ahead of Ferris State for ninth. The University of Findlay finished in first place in the tournament, posting a three round score of 923.

Sabrina Coffman had the low score for the Cards on Sunday, finishing with a 78. She completed the tournament with a three-day total of 253 (87-88-78), good for 31st overall. 

Emily Barker improved on her score for the third and final day, closing out round three with an 83. She finished with a three-round total of 258 (90-85-83, T-39th).

Alexa Marston posted an 86 for her final round, while Shelbe Cahill had the lowest three-day score for the Cardinals, shooting an 89 on Sunday and had a total of 251. Cahill tied for 26th overall while Marston was tied for 35th. 

Katie Boyd closed out competition for SVSU with a three-day score of 279 (87-89-103). She tied for 54th overall.

The 2017 GLIAC Women's Golf Championships mark the end of the inaugural season for the women's golf program. The team looks to build upon a solid opening campaign for the 2017-18 year.
