Lady Cardinals finish 8th at Walsh Cav Classic

CANTON, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team rounded-out play at the Walsh University Cav Classic on Tuesday, April 11. After sitting in 10th place after day one with a score of 331, the Lady Cardinals improved two spots to finish in the eighth slot after a second round score of 325. 

The 656 total put SVSU three strokes behind seventh place Lewis. Grand Valley State won the tournament with a two-day total score of 608. 

The second round on Tuesday was delayed due to storms in the morning, so the tournament featured a noon shotgun start.

Shelbe Cahill followed-up her opening round 79 with a 78, finishing in a tie for 12th place at +13. The 78 is the second-lowest score in the program's history.

Sabrina Coffman was next on Tuesday for the Cards, posting a score of 79 to finish +18 after her day one 83. She finished in a tie for 25th overall.

Alexa Marston had twin rounds of 82-82 to finishe 29th overall at +20.

Emily Barker tied for 45th wth scores of 87-86, giving her a +29 total. 

Kaitlyn Morrissey competed as well, posting scores of 98-90 to finish 62nd.

Saginaw Valley competes at the 2017 GLIAC Championships, playing at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The tournament is slated to take place Apr. 21-23.
