Women's Golf competes on day one of Ferris State Invitational

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team began competition in its second-ever event, traveling to compete in the Ferris State Invitational at the Katke Golf course in Big Rapids, Michigan. The Lady Cardinals shot an opening round of 341 and sit in fifth place after the opening 18 holes.

Sabrina Coffman and Emily Barker led the way for Saginaw Valley, each shooting opening scores of 84. Alexa Marston was right behind, carding a round of 85. Katie Boyd rounded-out the team's scoring with an 88 while Payton Steinhaus had an 89.

Ferris State University leads on its home course after shooting an opening score of 321. 

The ladies take-off on day two at 10:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
