Darin Thrun completed his third season as the assistant women's basketball coach under head coach Jamie Pewinski in March 2014.

Thrun helped lead the Lady Cardinals to back-to-back GLIAC Quarterfinals appearances in 2012-13 and 2013-14. Prior to the 2012-13 season, the program's last appearance in the league tournament was during the 2006-07 season.

Thrun was officially named the SVSU Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach on May 25, 2011. Prior to Saginaw Valley State, Thrun spent four seasons at Eastern Michigan University as an assistant coach and three years at Michigan State University as a student assistant.

During his tenure at Eastern Michigan, the Eagles totaled 71 wins, appeared in the NCAA Tournament and Women’s National Invitational Tournament, and won the MAC West Division Championship. During the 2010-11 season, EMU broke 16 single-season school records en route to 24 total wins. The program also had eight All-MAC selections during the four year span (2007-2010).

Before heading to Eastern Michigan, Thrun spent three years with the women’s basketball program at Michigan State University. The Spartans compiled a 79-23 record during that time, earning the 2005 Big Ten Conference regular-season championship, a Big Ten Tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament runner-up finish.

A native of Nashville, Mich., Thrun graduated from Michigan State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biological Science and a minor in Chemistry. In 2012, he graduated with a Master’s of Science degree in Sport Management from Eastern Michigan University.
