Zarycki named All-Midwest Region by D2CCA

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association announced their All-Regional selections for women's basketball on Friday morning. The D2CCA Player of the Year award and All-Region teams are nominated and selected by the region's sports information directors.

Saginaw Valley State University junior guard Kaitlyn Zarycki was named Second Team All-Midwest Region. The junior from Niles, Mich., ranked second in scoring in the GLIAC with 18.7 points per game and she started in all 27 games this season. She also surpassed 1000 career points earlier this year in the Cardinals' 73-43 victory over Lake Superior State University on Jan. 29. On defense, she recorded 2.2 steals per game and averaged 5.9 rebounds. Zarycki earned GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honors three times during the season as well.

Zarycki was named First Team All-GLIAC and GLIAC All-Defensive for the second straight season and she earned All-GLIAC honors for the third season in a row. This is the first time Zarycki has earned All-Region honors.

SVSU closed the season with a 16-11 overall record and an 11-8 mark in GLIAC play.
