BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team took its first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss of the season, as Ferris State University rallied in the second half to top the Cardinals on Saturday in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Cardinals (RV) led by as many as 13 points in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs (RV) outscored SVSU 25-8 in the fourth to take the win 68-59. The loss drops SVSU to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the GLIAC.

How it Happened:

• The Cardinals started the first quarter cold from the field, but Tori DePerry took over inside late in the opening frame. DePerry scored 11 points in the opening 10 minutes to give SVSU a 16-13 lead after the first.
• SVSU pulled away heading to the break, limiting the Bulldogs to six total points in the second quarter.
• Kaitlyn Zarycki stole the ball and raced down the court for a buzzer-beating layup to put SVSU up 31-19 at the break.
• Maddie Maloney hit a layup just over midway through the third to extend the Cardinal advantage to 13-points.
• Ferris State scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter to take a 52-51 lead.
• After Maddie Barrie hit a 3-pointer for the Cardinals, the home team answered with a pair of threes to give the Bulldogs a 58-56 lead with five minutes to play.
• Kadyn Blanchard made a layup with 3:33 left for Ferris State, giving the Bulldogs a 60-59 lead.
• Ferris State scored the final 10 points of the game and earned the win.

Inside the Box Score:

• Kaitlyn Zarycki led the Cardinals with 20 points on 9-of-19 shooting. Shed added six rebounds and three steals.
• Tori DePerry finished with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, adding six rebounds.
• Maddie Maloney scored seven points and recorded a team-high seven assists.
• The Cardinals shot 24-of-57 from the field, 4-of-17 from deep, and 7-of-15 at the line.
• Kadyn Blanchard led all scorers with 25 points, including five 3-pointers for Ferris State.
• The Bulldogs won the rebounding battle 45-32.
