Zarycki takes second straight GLIAC weekly award

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team opened the 2021-22 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season with a pair of big road wins last weekend, led by junior guard Kaitlyn Zarycki.

For the second week in a row, Zarycki has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.

In a 51-45 win over No. 13 Grand Valley State University on Thursday, Zarycki scored a game-high 25 points on 7-of-16 shooting, adding six rebounds. She followed up with an 18-point performance in a 68-39 win at Davenport University on Saturday.

The Niles, Mich., native is averaging 22 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.6 steals per game this season.

The Cardinals (7-2, 2-0 GLIAC) return home to host rival Northwood University at 6 pm Thursday at the James E. O'Neill Jr. Arena.
