Career week leads Zarycki to GLIAC award

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University junior guard Kaitlyn Zarycki set a new career-high in scoring on back-to-back nights for the Cardinals last week in Missouri.

For her efforts, the Niles, Mich., native has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball South Division Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.

Zarycki scored 36 points on 12-of-16 shooting, adding six rebounds in a narrow loss to No. 3 Drury last Tuesday. Zarycki came back the next day and set another career-high in scoring with 39 points in a win over Truman State (RV). She hit all 17 of her free throws in the two games.

Through seven games this season, Zarycki is averaging 22.1 points, five rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game for the Cardinals (5-2).

SVSU opens the GLIAC season against Grand Valley State University at 6 pm Thursday in Allendale, Mich.
