PEPPER PIKE, Ohio -- The Cardinal Women's Basketball team remained at Ursuline College on Sunday (Nov. 17), facing regional opponent Walsh University in a neutral site contest. Despite a strong fourth quarter, the comeback effort came up just short as the Cavaliers pulled-out a 72-67 victory.

Walsh led 17-13 after the first quarter, shooting 50.0% from the floor compared to SVSU's 41.7%. Aaliah Hill had six points through 10 minutes of play for the Cardinals.

The seconds quarter saw the Cavaliers score another 17 points while holding SV to 12. That made the score 34-25 at the halftime break in Walsh's advantage. Both teams hit on 50.0 % of their tries in the second and the Cards had three points from Maddie Barrie and Kaitlyn Geers in the frame.

There was more scoring in the second half, with the third seeing a 22-19 edge for Walsh to push its lead to 12 points at 56-44. The shooting was solid in the quarter for both teams, with SVSU hitting on 55.6% of its tries and Walsh shooting 56.3%. Hill added five third quarter points while Jessica Massey, Kaitlyn Zarycki and Tori DePerry each had four points.

Walsh led by a game-high 14 (63-49) with 5:40 to play, but the Cards wouldn't go away and would eventually pull to within four points at 71-67.

Time was not on SVSU's side, however, as the Cavaliers were able to close-out for a 72-67 win despite the Cardinals outscoring them by a 23-16 count in the final quarter.
