SVSU Women's Basketball "Get to Know" - Shelby Weeks

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. –The first edition of Women's Basketball "Get to Know" spotlight for the 2016-2017 season will highlight fifth-year senior guard, Shelby Weeks. Shelby joins the Cardinals this season after a standout career on the SVSU Softball team, where she ranks towards the top in several career categories and, just last year, tied the single season record with 12 home runs for the Cardinals.

Below are a few comments from Head Coach, Jamie Pewinski, about Shelby Weeks:

"Shelby is a great addition to our roster this season.  She is extremely hardworking and brings a wealth of experience competing at the college level to our program.  Because of her time with the softball team, she has earned immediate respect with the others on the team and we look forward to having her leadership when adversity strikes! We hope her time with our program is fulfilling and makes her career as a Cardinal student-athlete complete " – Coach Pewinski

Here is what Shelby had to say about why she chose to continue her athletic career on the basketball team:

"I want to play basketball because I want to compete, be a part of a team, and be pushed to my limits and then further. Basketball, or any sport really, teaches things physically, mentally and emotionally that can't be taught in any other way. It is an eye-opening experience that I am so thankful to have. The best part is that I don't have to face it alone, because being a part of this team means that everyone is in it together. Everyone is in it for one common goal and I want to help achieve that common goal. That is why I want to play!"

"It doesn't take any effort to be at the bottom. It takes everything to be successful and stay at the top." – Eric Thomas
