HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball student-athlete Emily Wendling was selected to both the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-American Second Team and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American Honorable Mention Team after her performance for the 2015-16 season.

Wendling, the GLIAC Player of the Year and D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year, earns her first all-american accolades after leading Saginaw Valley to the school's second-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II postesason tournament and first-ever GLIAC North Division championship.

Emily was named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week five different times throughout the season and earned national recognition being named the USBWA Player of the Week in January and the Women's Division II Bulleting Player of the Month for February.

The 6-3 junior from Flushing, Michigan averaged 18.1 ppg and 9.3 rpg with a free throw percentage of 85.4 percent. She hit on 53.9% of her shots overall as well. Wendling notched 14 double-doubles over the course of the year. She is the ninth all-american honoree in program history and second since the school transitioned to the ranks of NCAA Division II. Over the course of her career, she has been named to the All-GLIAC First Team twice, All-GLIAC Second Team once and was named the 2012-13 GLIAC Freshman of the Year.

Saginaw Valley posted an overall record of 22-9 and racked-up a record 17 league victories in the program's best season since the 1987-88 campaign when the school competed at the NAIA level. The Cards' tournament-opening victory over Bellarmine was also the second-ever win in the NCAA postseason tourney.
