Women's Basketball Set for Regional Tournament at Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio - The SVSU women's basketball team qualified for its first NCAA Divisoin II Midwest Regional tournament since the 1992-93 season and just second appearance overall and is set to compete this Friday (Mar. 11) in the opener. SVSU secured the no. 6 seed in the Midwest Region and will square-off against no. 3 Bellarmine on Friday at noon at Ashland University.

Saginaw Valley enters with a 21-8 overall record and claimed the program's first-ever GLIAC North Division championship for the 2015-16 campaign. The Lady Cardinals also posted a 17-5 record in league play, marking the most conference victories in the program's history. The 21 wins is the most since the 1987-88 season (25). 

The Knights tout a 24-3 overall record and are currently ranked no. 20 in the latest WBCA Top 25 rankings. Bellarmine claimed its first-ever GLVC Tournament championship recently and finished second in the GLVC East Division for the regular season.
