Lady Cardinals Fall to #11 Lakers, 64-35

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team fell on the road at the #11-ranked Grand Valley State University Lakers by a score of 64-35.  The loss drops the Cardinals to 3-8 overall on the season and 1-4 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play while the Lakers improve to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in league play.

The Cardinals found themselves trailing by a score of 38-17 at the half.  GVSU would also out-score SVSU in the second frame by a count of 26-18, closing-out with the 64-35 victory on its home floor.

Senior Brittany Burkhardt (West Bloomfield, Mich./Walled Lake Central HS) led the Cardinal effort with a team high 10 points and team high six rebounds in 28 minutes of action, earning her.  Freshman Kristen Greene (Brown City, Mich.) also reached double-digits in scoring, netting 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting while playing a team-high 35 minutes in the contest.  Sophomore Jasmine Kennedy (Harper Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North HS) added five points for SVSU.  

SVSU will be in action again on Saturday, as it returns home for a GLIAC contest against the Ferris State University Bulldogs in a 7:00 pm match-up.  It will be the first meeting between the two squads in the 2010-11 season.
