SVSU Track & Field Finishes Weekend at Golden Grizzly Invite

ROCHESTER, MICH. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team finished the weekend at the Golden Grizzly Invite in Rochester, Michigan on Saturday afternoon.

Cheyenne Nesbitt led the way with a win in the women's long jump with an NCAA D2 provisional mark of 5.93m.

Seth Oxer and Lukas Ray both helped lead the men's team with second-place finishes. Oxer's came in the 400 hurdles after he crossed the finish line in 56.93 seconds. Ray placed second in the shot put with a best throw of 14.82m.

The men's 4x100 Relay consisting of Daniel Barger, Trevor Culpepper, Matthew Gazzarato, and Quin Broussard finished the race in 42.31 seconds to place second in the event.

Sophia Thelen finished third in the 400 with a time of 58.86. Cassandra Campbell also finished third in the 400 hurdles when she finished in 1:03.03. Nate Niederquell earned third place on the men's side in the 400 hurdles after clocking a 57.34-second finish.

Autumn Morris and Jenna Picard were the final individual top-five finishers for the Cardinal women. Morris placed fourth in the triple jump after a leap of 10.57m. Picard also earned fourth in the 800 after her finish of 2:17.63. The women's 4x100 Relay team of Autumn Morris, Taylor Moyer, MaKayla Williams, and Alicia Fields placed fourth as well after a finish of 49.67.

The men had two top-five finishers with Bryce Husen earning fourth in the 800 with a time of 1:56.05 and Nick Bozarth completing the steeplechase in 9:32.13 four fourth place.

TOP 10 FINISHES

Graham Jones earned sixth in the javelin with a throw of 43.04m.

Grace Harkenrider finished seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:18.85. Trinity Greer was seventh in the 400 after finishing in 1:00.32. Ericka Jackson placed seventh in the discus with a toss of 38.32m. Cameron Sherrill placed seventh in the 800 with a time of 1:57.33. Alex Stoll was seventh in the 110 hurdles with a finish of 15.50.

Ryan Brenner finished eighth in the high jump at the Michigan State University Spartan Invite on Friday after clearing the bar at 1.84m. Shane Siterlet was eighth in the 800 after finishing 1:57.56.

Justin Roose placed ninth in the 800 with a time of 1:57.96. Tyler Hufnagel was also ninth with his finish in the 400 hurdles after a time of 1:02.30. Kyle Gulliver placed ninth in the discus with a throw of 39.94m. Taylor Moyer finished ninth in the 400 with a time of 1:01.10.

Karissa Picard was 10th in the 1500 after finishing in 4:51.04. Christian Purchase-Ofoeme was 10th in the high jump at the Spartan invite after clearing the bar at 1.84m. Landon Mars was the final top-10 finisher for SVSU after crossing the finish in the 800 in 1:58.70.

UP NEXT

The Cardinal Track and Field team is scheduled to travel out to the West Coast for two meets in California. The first is at the Cal State LA meet on Wednesday and Thursday, April 10 and 11. SVSU will also compete at Azusa Pacific from April 11-13.
