Eight Cardinal Runners Compete in WashU Distance Carnival

ST. LOUIS – Eight members of the Saginaw Valley State University track and field team competed at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis on Friday night. Three members of the women's team and five Cardinal men's runners competed in the 5K at the meet.

Maddie Isola was the top finisher on the women's side as she finished the 5K in 38th after recording a time of 17 minutes and 36.38 seconds. Lynsey Amthor followed in 42nd with her time of 17:43.09. Alexis Tracy was the final runner for SVSU, as she finished 72nd with a time of 18:28.07.

Nick McArdle led the Cardinal men's team with a 5K time of 14:40.55 to place 24th. Thomas Hufton finished 33rd as he clocked a 14:46.04 in the race. Noah Verlinde ran to finish 37th with a time of 14:51.75. Carson Hersch placed 70th after crossing the finish line at 15:15.00. Jack Lobodzinski rounded out the times for SVSU at 15:17.30 to place 76th.

The Cardinals will compete at the Spartan Invite and the GVSU Early Meet next Friday and Saturday, April 5-6.
