Ciera Weber Breaks School Record in Pole Vault at Annual W-C-W Tri-Meet

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's track & field team hosted the annual W-C-W Tri-Meet between the Cardinals, Wayne State, and Northern Michigan University. SVSU finished in 3rd in the team standings with a final tally of 52.5. SVSU had a new school record set by Ciera Weber in her pole vault victory where she cleared the bar at 3.76m (12' 4"). Along with the new school record, seven personal best outcomes were obtained by Cardinal women.

Current GLIAC women's field athlete of the week, Cheyenne Nesbitt won the shot put with her best throw of 12.89m. Angelina Delbosque added a first-place finish for SVSU in the 200m with her time of 25.57 seconds. Alexa Keiser won the 800 after crossing the finish line at 2:12.83. Maddie Isola was the final winner for the Cardinals, as she won the 5000m with a finish of 18:14.70.

Chaniya Madison was one of seven second-place finishes for SVSU. Madison was the runner-up in the 60m with a season-best mark of 7.86. Cassandra Campbell set a new personal best in the 60 hurdles with a second-place time of 8.78. Grace Harkenrider finished the 3000m in 10:35.12 to earn second in the race. Trinity Greer placed second in the 300m with a final tally of 40.37 seconds. Olivia Carpenter finished in second in the high jump after clearing the bar at a personal-best height of 1.48m. Ericka Jackson's shot put throw of 12.36m earned her second place in the event. The final second-place finish came in the day's final event of the 4x300 relay. The team consisted of Trinity Greer, Cassandra Campbell, Sophia Thelen, and Taylor Moyer and clocked a final time of 2:45.03.

Hanna Schroeder, Sophia Thelen, and Makayla Fuerst were the trio of Cardinals who finished third in their respective events. Schroeder's third-place finish came in the 60 hurdles after her time of 8.98 seconds. Thelen crossed the finish line in the 200m in 25.75 seconds for her third-place result. Fuerst earned third in the 400 with a season-best time of 1:00.72.

Alicia Fields set a personal best time in the 60m with 7.98, earning fourth in the event. Mallory Farmer earned a top-five finish for the Cardinals with her 1:01.30 finish in the 400 to finish in fifth. Clara Krupp was also a fifth-place finisher with her personal best time in the 800m of 2:20.59. Anna Alexander was fifth in the 5000m, clocking in at 19:01.65. Abby Karst had a personal-best throw in the shot put of 11.23m to place fifth in the event.

OTHER PERSONAL BESTS
Lynsey Amthor placed sixth in the mile in 5:11.37.
Sarah Gray finished sixth in the long jump at 4.75m.

The SVSU women's track & field team takes a road trip to compete in the two-day GVSU Big Meet next weekend (Friday and Saturday, February 9-10) before returning home for the SVSU Tune-Up Meet that precedes the conference championships.
