Three Athletes Travel to Grand Valley Last Chance Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Three athletes from Saginaw Valley State University's Track and Field Team headed down to the GVSU Last Chance Meet to improve their marks before the NCAA Division II National Championships in two weeks. Thomas Hufton III, Cheyenne Williamson, and MacKenzie Ramey all made the trip.

Hufton was set to race in the 10k and came through the halfway mark on pace for a sub 30-minute race before pulling from the competition due to pain in his leg. Hufton previously raced in the 10k at the GLIAC Championships and was the conference champion in the event just four days prior.

Williamson found herself in the women's shot put where she took third place with a throw of 12.18m (39' 11.5") on her second-to-last throw where she came up short to the 13.95m benchmark of the NCAA Division II Provisional. Ramey competed in the hammer throw where she finished in sixth place with a throw of 47.85m (157' 0"). The Senior fell short of making the NCAA Division II Provisional mark that is set at 52.34m.
