CoSIDA Honors Olshevska as Academic All-American

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – After an outstanding season for the Saginaw Valley State University track & field team, Alona Olshevska earned another postseason honor on Tuesday.

The senior from Wayne, Mich., was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America Third Team.

The award is the first for Olshevska in her career. During the 2021-22 season, she earned two All-American honors, while being named the GLIAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Meet and the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. Olshevska is a seven-time NCAA DII All-American for SVSU.

Student-athletes are nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-American awards by a CoSIDA member at their institution. CoSIDA Academic All-American voters consider both performances in competition and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominees must have been enrolled for at least one calendar year and have achieved sophomore-academic standing at the time of nomination.
