Eight Cardinals earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Region award winners on Tuesday, with multiple student-athletes from the Saginaw Valley State University track and field team being honored. 

Earning All-Midwest Region honors on the men's side were CarLee Stimpfel and Dayton Brown. Stimpfel was named All-Region in both the 3000-meter and 5000-meter runs, while Brown was named All-Region in the 5000-meter run. Both are set to compete at NCAA Division II Nationals this weekend. 

On the women's side, the 4x400-meter relay team of Alexa Cross, Alona Olshevska, Jenna Picard, and Cheyenne Williamson earned All-Region honors, as did the distance medley relay team consisting of Olshevska, Picard, Alexa Keiser, and Lauren Buckner. Individually, Olshevska was named All-Region in the 60-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter dashes, while Williamson earned honors in the pentathlon, long jump, high jump, 60-meter hurdles, and 200-meter dash. 

Six Cardinals will begin the NCAA Championships at 10 am CST on Friday at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan. on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
