Cardinals break records; improve national marks at Dr. Keeler Track & Field Meet

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The SVSU Track & Field teams had several student-athletes compete in the 2019 Dr. Keeler Track & Field Meet at North Central College. The Cardinals posted some solid times and broke several records along the way in hopes of improving national qualifying marks. 

Jenna Keiser moved to 18th ranked in the national after breaking the school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. She registered a time of 10:39.50 in the race, besting the previous mark by 11 seconds. 

The 400 meter relay team, consisting of Casey Williams, Travon Phillips, Juan Bowers and Noah Dooley, ran to a time of 41.14 seconds. That is a new record as well for Saginaw Valley.

Ryan Kelly bumped up to 18th in the country as well, breaking his own outdoor record in the shot put with a distance of 57' 5".

The Cardinals will have a group competing at Mt. Olive in their final chance to post qualifying marks for the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships on Sunday.
