Cardinals compete at Polar Bear Invitational

MARION, Ind. -- The SVSU Track & Field teams got the 2019 outdoor season underway on Saturday, competing at the Polar Bear Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University. 

Lauren Huebner had a solid showing, placing third in the javelin with a distance of 32.57 meters and fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.44 meters. She was 10th in the shot put with a mark of 11.23 meters. The javelin and shot put distances are personal bests for Huebner. 

Alicia Aldrich finished 3rd in the shot put, tossing it a distance of 13.01 meters. She finished 6th in the hammer throw, getting a personal best mark of 43.67 meters. 

Emily Droski was 4th in the javelin with her showing of 31.60 meters. She would be top-10 in the discus as well, finishing 8th with a mark of 37.22 meters. Both are personal bests for Droski. 

On the men's side, Ryan Kelly registered a provisional distance of 16.24 meters in the shot put for a 4th place finish. Another provisional distance came his way in the discus throw, finishing 2nd with a 50.06 meter mark for a personal best. 

Jacob Netschke added a 10th place finish for the Cardinals with his 44.93 meter throw in the javelin.
