Huebner earns All-American honors in pentathlon on day two of national championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Cardinal Indoor Track & Field teams had two student-athletes compete on Saturday (Mar. 9) on the second and final day of the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Lauren Huebner had a record day in the pentathlon while recording a third place finish and garnering all-american honors while Ryan Kelly placed 13th in the shot put at the event.

Huebner began the day with an 8.62 second performance in the 60 meter hurdles, pacing the way with a new school record in the event. She would continue the stellar performance throughout, finishing-off the day with another program record of 3,823 points in the pentathlon.

Kelly finished his shot put competition with a 13th place showing, tossing it a distance of 56' 6". It just narrowly missed-out on an all-american honor for him.

Saginaw Valley finishes its 2019 indoor season and will continue in the coming weeks with the outdoor season. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com for full details on the outdoor slate for the Cardinals.
