CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- SVSU Senior Track & Field Student-Athlete Andrew Mudd capped-off his career with a national runner-up finish in the decathlon at the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships in North Carolina.
Mudd finished in second place in this year's championship with a score of 7,184 points. This marks an all-time high for him in his collegiate career. He finishes his final season with a pair of all-american honors, having finished 5th in this year's indoor heptathlon. It is his fourth total all-american honor while competing for the Cardinals.
Sam Black competed in the decathlon as well for SVSU, finishing in 13th place with a count of 6,158.
Noah VanderVeen represented the Cardinals in the high jump as well. He finished in 11th place, clearing the bar at a mark of 2.09 meters.
Both Black and VanderVeen were indoor all-americans for the Cardinals and will return next season.
The 2018 National Championships wrap-up the 2018 season for SVSU.
