UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The Saginaw Valley State University Track & Field teams have several student-athletes who have provisionally qualified so far for the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships.
Four male student-athletes have qualified for the Cardinals and two on the female side. The men appeared at No. 24 in last week's national rankings, marking the first time of the season they have been featured in the top-25.
Below are the respective SVSU student-athletes and where they rank nationally and in the GLIAC...
400 Hurdles
Lauren Huebner | Ranked No. 31 nationally and No. 3 in the GLIAC with her time of 1:02.00, which was earned this past weekend at the Al Owens Classic held at Grand Valley State University. She finished third overall at the meet.
Decathlon
Andrew Mudd | Ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the GLIAC with his point total of 7,118, which was achieved this past weekend at the Cerritos Invitational and Combined Events. It's al all-time best score for Mudd in the decathlon.
Sam Black | Ranked No. 11 nationally and No. 2 in the GLIAC. Black racked-up 6,746 points this weekend at the Cerritos Invitational and Combined Events.
10,000 Meters
Tom Goforth | Ranked No. 8 nationally and No. 4 in the GLIAC after his time of 29:58.48 this past weekend at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Goforth's performance is a personal best for him in the race.
Allison Dorr | Ranked No. 12 nationally and No. 3 in the GLIAC after her time of 35:56.71 at Bucknell's Bison Classic. That time marks an all-time collegiate best for Dorr in the event.
High Jump
Noah VanderVeen | Ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 1 in the GLIAC. Noah has his best height of 2.10 meters (6'10.75") that was registered at the MSU Spartan Invitational.
