Cards compete on day one in California

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The SVSU track & field teams hit the road for the west coast, competing in the Cal State L.C. Twilight Open and the Bryan Clay Invitational. The Cardinals had some impressive performances as we hit the home stretch of final regular season meets.

Men

  • Jullane Walker posted two first-place finishes. He nothed a provisional time in the 100 meters with a mark of 10.40 seconds. He claimed the top spot in the long jump as well, as the freshman recorded a distance of 7.05 meters (23' 1.75"). His time of 10.40 seconds in the 100 is a new school record.
  • In the shot put, Ryan Kelly took third with a distance of 15.33 meters (50' 3.5") while Ben Morrow was fourth with his mark of 15.04 meters (49' 4.25").
  • Sam Black was the best finisher for SVSU in the high jump, posting a height of 1.94 meters (6' 4.25") for fifth place. He also had a fifth place showing in the javelin with a distance of 52.77 meters (173' 1").
  • Brady Watson had the best team showing in the triple jump, recording a mark of 13.11 meters (43' 0.25").
  • Juan Bowers finished 15th in the 200 meters with a time of 22.32 seconds while Jacob Kulhanek had a mark of 4.36 meters (14' 3.5") in the pole vault, notching the best times for the team in those respective events. 
  • Tom Goforth ran the 5,000 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational, posting a time of 14:48.10.

Women

  • Lauren Huebner recorded her first outdoor provisional time, crossing the line with a mark of 1:01.82 in the 400 hurdles for second place. 
  • Anna Fochesato also competed in the high jump, notching a mark of 1.54 meters (5' 0.5").
