CLOVIS, Calif. - Saginaw Valley State University track & field student-athlete Tristan Fackelman competed over the weekend in the 2016 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships, held at Veteran's Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High School in Clovis, California. 

Competing in the men's 10,000 meter run, Fackelman posted a time of 31:30.75 to finish in ninth place. The time was a 24 second improvement over his prior best time of 31:54.34, which he posted at the 2016 Bellarmine Invitational. He bested some of the top national junior talent in the field of 23 athletes for the race.

"This was Tristan's first national competition and you never really know how an athlete will react to that type of experience," said Jason Hartmann, SVSU men's distance coach. "He handled the pressure and came out with a very positive experiece, as well as motivation to accomplish even more!"
