BAY CITY - Saginaw Valley State University senior track and field student-athlete Taylor Stepanski has been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after her performance over the weekend at the Al Owens Invitational, hosted by Grand Valley State.

Stepanski broke her own school record over the weekend at the Al Owens Invitational. She crossed the finish line in a time of 2:07.02 in the 800 meter run to claim first place in the race. Stepanski wrapped-up an NCAA automatic qualifier with the time and is currently ranked second overall in the NCAA and first in the GLIAC by over three seconds.

This is the second time this season Taylor has been named the GLIAC Athlete of the Week, as she earned the honor in week five of the 2016 indoor season. She will lead the Cardinals into this weekend's meet at Hillsdale, as SVSU is set to compete at the Gina Relays.
