Six members of the SVSU track and field team competed at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Pitt State last weekend. Overall, the women's team tied for 40th with 3.00 points in total and the men tied for 46th with 2.50 points.

Robert Atwater tied for sixth in the high jump, crossing the bar at a final height of 2.06 meters. He earned his first All-American honors for SVSU with the performance.

Robert Tarpley took 10th in the long jump, marking a distance of 7.39 meters. It was his first appearance at the national indoor meet. In the triple jump, Tarpley finished ninth, posting a best distance of 14.88 meters.

In the first day of heptathlon events, Andrew Mudd placed 13th in both the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.33 and the long jump at a distance of 6.36 meters. In the shot put, Mudd placed 10th, throwing 11.99 meters. He did not participate in the second day of the heptathlon events.

Taylor Stepanski finished eighth in the 800 meter run finals, posting a time of 2:13.13. 

In the shot put, Emerald Joiner took 11th place with a best throw of 13.81 meters.

Anna Fochesato finished seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 39' 10". Fochesato broke the SVSU indoor program record that she set two weeks ago at the 2016 GLIAC Indoor Championships in the triple jump by four inches. Fochesato tied for 11th in the finals in the high jump at a final height of 1.66 meters.
