UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.--The Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving programs swept visiting Aquinas College in a dual meet at Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center on Friday evening. The women were victorious 199-37, while the men won easily 186-38.
Women's Highlights:
- The 400-yard medley relay "A" team of Erin McDowell, Grace Charnstrom, Sierra Maison and Andrea Bustos took first place with a clocking of 4 minutes and 3.43 seconds.
- Cassidy Lease was a double winner in the 1650-freestyle in 18:53.37 and 500-free in 5:26.99.
- Maison was victorious in both the 200-breaststroke (2:32.76) and 400-individual medley (4:39.85).
- Bustos won the 50-free in 25.23.
- McDowell also picked up the victory in the 200-backstroke in 2:13.81.
- In diving, Adelaide Spencer swept titles in the 1- and 3-meters with 231.15 and 250.10, respectively.
Men's Highlights:
- The A-quartet of Alejandro Robles Ruiz, Christian Rottier, Logan Fox and Henry Booker captured first place in the 400-medley relay at 3:25.38.
- Almos Szedlak claimed a couple victories in the 50-free at 20.73 seconds and 500-free at 4:35.72.
- Robles Ruiz earned an individual triumph in the 100-free with a 44.88 time and he also contributed to the 400-free relay team's winning time of 3:01.35.
- Eric Slabbert, who swam the first leg of the 400-free relay, touched the wall first in the 400-IM with a winning time of 4:11.72.
- Szedlak and anchor Fox also comprised the 400-free relay.
Next up, the Cardinals will travel Saturday (1 p.m.) to the University of Findlay for a dual meet with the Oilers.
