KENTWOOD, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University swimming & diving teams traveled to East Kentwood High School to compete against Davenport University and Grand Valley State University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tri-meet. On the men's side, SVSU defeated the Panthers 159-93, and fell to GVSU 206.50-51.50. The women defeated Davenport 150-108, and fell to the Lakers 166-92.
Women's Highlights:
- Reigning GLIAC Diver of the Week Libby Caird swept the 1-meter and 3-meter events. The senior from Jenison, Mich., posted a score of 269.00 points in the 1-meter dive and scored 279.65 points in the 3-meter event.
- Tonya Guryeva won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.76 seconds and took the 100-yard freestyle race with a time of 51.66.
- In the 200-yard medley relay, Guryeva teamed up with Lisette Fenneuff, Kimble Darbee, and Erin McDowell to finish second with a time of 1:47.16.
- Darbee also picked up the victory in the 100-yard butterfly race with a time of 58.95 seconds.
- Guryeva and Darbee teamed up with Emma Cornell and Piper St. Clair in the 200-yard freestyle. They closed the meet with a first-place finish for the Cardinals in a time of 1:35.95, setting a new school record in the process.
Men's Highlights:
- Alejandro Robles Ruiz took the win in the 100-yard backstroke for SVSU with a time of 50.55. He was also second in the 100-yard butterfly in 49.48 seconds.
- Robles Ruiz, Joao Pedro Noguera, Christian Rottier, and Kyle Amick finished second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:31.99.
- Rottier added a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.04 seconds.
- Arthur Marques was second in the 200-yard individual medley race in 1:59.26.
- Robles Ruiz, Amick, Josh Rottier, and Sanders Modglin finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.28.

SVSU will host Wayne State University on Senior Day at 1 pm next Saturday at the Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center.
