Colorado Springs, CO - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has named Libby Caird to its All-American teams for the 2019-20 season.
Libby advanced to the NCAA Division II Diving Championships for the second straight season in 2020. She competed in the three meter dive prelims on the first day of competition and was set to compete in the one meter dive event before this year's championships were cancelled. Due to the cancellation, all qualifying divers set to compete in the 1 meter event were deemed All-Americans. This marks the second straight season that Caird was named an All-American in the one meter event, as she finished 15th to earn honorable mention honors at the 2019 championships.
"Libby is one of the hardest working student-athletes I have seen," stated SVSU Diving Coach Joseph Gucwa III. "With every challenge she faces, she rises above and puts in the extra effort to not only accomplish those goals, but compete at the highest level. Her hard work shows in the classroom as well, as she has averaged no lower than a 3.9 GPA throughout her collegiate career. I am proud of all of her hard work and the challenges that she has overcome!"
Caird had an impressive showing at the 2020 GLIAC Championships as well, finishing runner-up in the one meter dive event and posting a fifth place showing in the three meter dive competition.
"Despite the cancellation of the NCAA Championships, Libby did a remarkable job this season," explained Greg Earhart, Executive Director of the CSCAA. She had the rug pulled out from her this season, so we are excited to recognize her as one of the nation's best."
