BAY CITY -- Saginaw Valley State University senior swimmer Shaun Yap has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Male Athlete of the Week following his performance in the team's victory at Valparaiso on Saturday, November 11.

Yap had a big meet for the the Cardinals in the team's 179-76 victory at Valparaiso on Saturday afternoon. Yap claimed victory in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, turning in times of 56.93 and 2:06.55, respectively. His 100 time ranks third in the GLIAC for 2017-18 and his 200 time is currently fourth in the league. He was a member of a pair of relay victories as well, contributing to wins in the 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle relays.

The team will be back in action this upcoming weekend at the Cleveland State Invitational, where the Cardinals will be up against some top Division I competition from Nov. 16-18.
