SOMERS, Wis. - Saginaw Valley State University sophomore swimming & diving student-athlete Amanda Thielen has earned some preseason all-american recognition heading into the 2016-17 campaign for the Cardinals.

Thielen, who earned All-American Honorable Mention honors at the 2016 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships (100 Back), has been named a Division II preseason all-american in the 200 Backstroke by collegeswimming.com. 

Thielen was also one of six SVSU swim & dive student-athletes to be named a CSCAA Scholar All-American after her performance at the finals and her high achievements in the classroom.

Amanda was one of 121 swimmers selected nationally for this preseason recognition, which is based on the times of both returning and incoming swimmers (through September 1st) with input from coaches and sports information contacts.
