The Saginaw Valley State University women's swimming & diving team has been honored by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as a Scholar All-America team in the program's second year of existence.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the Spring semester and the head coach must be a member of the CSCAA.

The Lady Cardinals posted a grade point average of 3.34 for the 2015-16 season to go along with their 8-1 record in the pool. The overall athletic department at SVSU posted a cumulative GPA of 3.16, maintaining an average over 3.0 for the eighth consecutive semester. In the pool, both swim teams scored points at the national championships for the first time ever, having five national participants and four first-time all-americans.

SVSU swimming & diving head coach Bruce Zimmerman spoke to his program's performance this season...

"I am extremely proud of the academic success of our women's team," stated Zimmerman. "Our team GPA of 3.34 for the semester ranked us 36th nationally and was tops in the GLIAC. Since the start of the program in the fall of 2015, the women's team has been ranked nationally in four consecutive semesters and near the top of the GLIAC every semester. I would like to congratulate our men's team as well. Even though the team did not earn scholar all-america honors, the first year program did a very good job academicall, earning a fall semester GPA of 2.975 and a winter mark of 2.952. Our program's top priority is to excel in the classroom and the team is consistently fulfilling their commitment to their education."
