Softball to Host NCAA Midwest Regional Beginning Thursday

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team will host one of the two NCAA Division II Midwest Regional pods that run from Thursday, May 8, through Saturday, May 10.

The Cardinals (43-12) earned the number one seed in the Midwest Region after claiming the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular season and tournament titles this season. They welcome familiar foes in (4) Findlay (33-14) and fellow GLIAC member (8) Ferris State (28-19), along with Great Lakes Valley Conference member (5) Drury (33-21) to University Center.

The tournament kicks off on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. ET when the (4) Oilers face the (5) Panthers in game one. The (1) Cardinals and (8) Bulldogs will meet in game two at 1:30 p.m. ET.

The winner of this four-team, double-elimination tournament will advance to the best-of-three games Super Regional against the winner of the other Midwest pod of (2) Tiffin, (7) Indianapolis, (3) Hillsdale, and (6) Lewis.

The NCAA Division II Championship will be held May 21-28 at Frost Stadium at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
