BAY CITY - The SVSU softball team has swept the weekly GLIAC Softball Player of the Week awards after the Cardinals posted an undefeated weekend while moving to 15-6 overall and 4-0 in league play. Samantha Willman has earned her second GLIAC Pitcher of the Week award of 2017 while Evy Lobdell was named the GLIAC Player of the Week after her monster weekend at the plate.
Willman went 2-0 over the weekend in helping lead the Cardinals to a 4-0 record over Lake Erie and Walsh. She had an era of 0.00, wllowing no runs and just five total hits on the weekend. She also started for SVSU in the team's 19-0 win over Walsh in Saturday's opening game. In the nightcap against the Cavs, she carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning. Willman notched 14 strikeouts in her 16.0 innings pitched.
The Cardinals take their 15-6 overall and 4-0 league record and will begin a four-day weekend in Ohio on Friday (Mar. 31) with a doubleheader at Urbana. SVSU will then play at Ohio Dominican, Ashland and non-conference foe Malone.
