Saginaw Valley Falls Twice on Day Six of Rebel Spring Games

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Saginaw Valley State University softball team dropped both of their games on day six of the Rebel Spring Games.  They fell 9-2 in game one to St. Cloud State before falling 6-1 to Caldwell College.

Game One vs. St. Cloud State - Box Score
The Cardinals found themselves in an early 3-0 hole after the first inning to St. Cloud State.  The Huskies would continue to build on on their lead through the early innings, going up by a 7-0 score after four innings. 

The Cardinals would finally get on the score board in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jordan Randall (Clinton Twp., Mich.) singled to center field and  drove home Marcy Medina (Freeland, Mich.) who reached earlier in the inning on a double to left field.  Randall would score later in the inning when Kari Knight (Walled Lake, Mich. / Northern HS) laced a double down the left field line to make the score 7-2.

St. Cloud State would add two in the top of the seventh as they went on to win by final score of 9-2.

Game Two vs. Caldwell - Box Score
Caldwell jumped out to a 6-0 advantage over the first five innings as the Cardinals struggled to put offense together at key times early in the game.

SVSU would leave Ashley Beal (Milan, Mich.) and Amanda Kimes (Caledonia, Mich.) on base in the third innings and then would leave Haley Niedzwiecki (Freeland, Mich.) and Samantha Sutton (Armada, Mich.) on base in the fifth inning.

The Cardinals would finally light the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning when Neidzwiecki was able to score of a Caldwell error.  SVSU would be unable to add any additional runs as they ended up falling by a final score of 6-1.

Saginaw Valley will finish up their spring schedule tomorrow (Mar. 9) with games against St. Cloud State and Minnesota State Moorhead before return back to Michigan for the start of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference scheudle later in March.
