MIDLAND, Mich. - The 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Tournament has been cancelled because of inclement weather this weekend.
The Cardinals' opening round game against Northwood Univerisity
on Friday had originally been suspended with SVSU holding a 4-0
advantage in the bottom of the fourth inning before heavy rain
halted play on day one. It was determined on the morning of
day two that the weather was not going to permit the tournament to
be played.
Wayne State University will receive the conferences automatic bid
to the NCAA Softball Tournament that will take place between May
13-16. Currently there are six teams in the GLIAC that are
ranked in the top-10 (top eight qualify). Wayne State is
ranked #1, Ashland is #2, Saginaw Valley is #5 and Tiffin is
#7. Northwood and Ferris State are ranked outside the
top-eight at #9 and #10 respectively.
