Cardinals Compete in the CMU Hosted Jeff Drenth Memorial

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the first meet of the season today (9/2) at the Jeff Drenth Memorial.

The men's team was led by junior Tyler Noble (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) who placed seventh overall with a final time of 16:09.51.  Following close behind Noble was teammate Joseph Burelle who crossed the line at 16:15.63 which was good for a tenth place finish.  Sophomores Chad Scott (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern HS) and Kyle Henderson (Freeland, Mich./Freeland HS) would earn 19th and 23rd places for the Cardinals timing in at 16:38.86 and 16:49.09, respectively.  Rounding out Saginaw Valley's top-five was redshirt freshman Tony Peel (Swartz Creek, Mich./Swartz Creek HS) who came in with a final time of 16:56.41, good for a 24th place finish.

The women's team was led by senior Megan Pittoors (Macomb, Mich./Dakota HS) who crossed the line at 19:01.83, good for a sixth place finish.  Junior Lauren Hill (Flat Rock, Mich./Flat Rock HS) and sophomore Alycia Wright (Macomb Township, Mich./Lutheran High North) would come in behind Pittoors with times of 19:21.67 and 19:29.10, earning them 10th and 11th place finishes, respectively.  Jean Hollerbach (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe HS) earned a 18th place finish for the Cardinals clocking in at 19:50.87, while teammate Ashley Meyer (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) placed 22nd overall with a final time of 20:30.51.

Saginaw Valley will be back in action again Friday (9/16) when they travel to East Lansing to compete in the MSU Spartan Invitational.
