Saginaw Valley Places 14th at Regional Meet

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's cross country teams competed today (Nov. 20) in the NCAA Division II Regional Championships.

The Cardinals placed 14th overall in a very competitive field of teams and were led by sophomore Tyler Noble (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) who clocked in at 32:16.21 for the 10,000-meter race which was good for 26th place.  Noble was followed closely by senior teammate Jeff Wilson (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon HS) who ended his final season with a 47th place finish and had a final time of 32:49.49.  Junior Greg Baade (Warren, Mich./De La Salle Collegiate) would come in behind Wilson with a final time of 33:39.40, good for a 79th place finish.  Crossing the line with times of 34:35.45 and 34:40.23 were freshman teammates Matt Kabacinski (Bay City, Mich./Bay City Western HS) and Chad Scott (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern HS), earning the last two spots in SVSU's top-five.

The women's team earned a ninth place finish and were led by sophomore Chelsea Savage (Monroe, Mich./St. Mary's Catholic Central) who placed 29th overall in the 6,000-meter race with a final time of 22:42.42.  Following close behind Savage was junior Jean Hollerbach (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Point HS) who crossed the line at 22:46.96 which was good for a 34th place finish.  Hollerbach was followed by junior teammates Megan Pittoors (Macomb, Mich./Dakota HS) and Ashley Meyer (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) who timed in at 23:12.77 and 23:35.30, respectively.  Rounding out Saginaw Valley's top-five was freshman Dana Stolicker (Deckerville, Mich./Deckerville HS) who finished with a final time of 23:38.15.

With the conclusion of the Regional meet the Cardinal cross country teams end their season and make the transition into the indoor track and field season.
