SVSU Places Seventh Overall at the Michigan Intercollegiate Meet

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday (Oct. 8) at the Oakland University hosted Michigan Intercollegiate meet.

The men's team placed seventh overall at the Michigan Intercollegiate meet which held a very competitive field of schools including Calvin College, Aquinas, and Cornerstone University.  The Cardinals were led by sophomore Tyler Noble (Shepherd, Mich. / Shepherd HS), who placed ninth overall and crossed the line at 26:29.0, and senior teammate Jeff Wilson (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon HS) who clocked in at 26:41.2 placing him 14th.  Following Noble and Wilson was junior Greg Baade (Warren, Mich./De La Salle Collegiate) crossing the line 55th overall with a final time of 27:58.0.  Rounding out SVSU's top-five were freshmen Matt Kabacinski (Bay City, Mich./Bay City Western HS) and Chad Scott (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern HS), Kabacinski finishing 70th overall with a time of 28:19.4 and Scott earning a 84th place finish clocking in at 28:36.3.

The women's team finished third overall at the Michigan Intercollegiate meet in a competitive field of teams including Calvin College, Aquinas, and Lansing Community College.  Saginaw Valley was led by junior Jean Hollerbach (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Point HS) placing 28th overall with a time of 19:14.2.  Following close behind Hollerbach was sophomore Chelsea Savage (Monroe, Mich./St. Mary's Catholic Central), who clocked in at 19:39.4 good enough for 47th place, and junior Megan Pittoors (Macomb, Mich./Dakota HS) who finished 56th place crossing the line at 19:48.1.  Rounding out Saginaw's top-five were junior Ashley Meyer (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) and freshman Dana Stolicker (Deckerville, Mich./Deckerville HS).  Meyer earned a 62nd place finish timing in at 19:54.0 while teammate Stolicker placed 75th clocking in at 20:11.2.   

The Cardinals will be back in action again October, 23 when they travel to Ypsilanti to compete in the Eastern Michigan Classic.
