Cardinals Compete at the Lansing Invitational

LANSING, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's cross country team earned a fourth place finish Saturday (Oct. 2) at the Lansing Invitational.

The Cardinals were led by sophomore Tyler Noble (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) who placed ninth overall finishing with a time of 25:33.  Following close behind Noble was senior Jeff Wilson (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon HS) who clocked in at 25:41 placing him 11th overall.  Coming in behind Wilson were freshman Chad Scott (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern HS), finishing 23rd overall crossing the line at 26:05, and junior Greg Baade (Warren, Mich./De La Salle Collegiate), placing 28th overall with a final time of 26:16.  Rounding out SVSU's top-five runners was junior Jonathan Wetters (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS) who placed 44th overall and timed in at 26:46.

The Cardinals were led by junior Ashley Meyer (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) who placed second overall finishing with a time of 18:33.  Following Meyer was teammate Jean Hollerbach (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Point HS) who earned a 12th place finish clocking in at 18:47.  Crossing the line at 19:20 was sophomore Chelsea Savage (Monroe, Mich./St. Mary's Catholic Central) and was followed closely by Amber Kassuba (Vanderbilt, Mich./Gaylord HS) who clocked in at 19:32.  Rounding out the Cardinals top-five was freshman Dana Stolicker (Deckerville, Mich./Deckerville HS) who finished with a final time of 19:39.

The Cardinals will be in action again next week Friday (Oct. 8) as they travel to Oakland University to compete in the Michigan Intercollegiates.
