Men, Women Cross Country Finish 8th at NCAA Regionals

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men’s and women’s cross country teams each finished in 8th place today at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regionals hosted by Ferris State University.

Juniors Steve Genther (Laingsburg, Mich.) and Amber Catlin (Alma, Mich./Alma HS) crossed the finish line first for the Cardinals.

For the men, Genther crossed the finish line at the 32:47 mark, followed by junior Cortland Seaver (Freeland, Mich.) at 33:25, sophomore Derek Stone (Metamora, Mich./Lapeer East) at 33:37, senior Len Weddel (East Tawas, Mich./Tawas Area HS) at 33:55, junior Ben Richards (Goodrich, Mich.) 34:02 and freshman Nick Ekel (Elsie, Mich./Ovid-Else) at 34:42.

For the women, Catlin crossed the finish line in 23:36, followed by junior Maggie Stalker (Oscoda, Mich./Oscoda HS) at 23:57, junior Libby Robinson (Saginaw, Mich./Swan Valley) at 24:18, freshman Chelsea Savage (Monroe. Mich.) at 24:22, junior Amanda Roache (Mt. Morris, Mich.) at 24:31, junior Rachel Trombley (Reese, Mich./Reese HS) at 24:40 and freshman Ashley Meyer (Shepherd, Mich.) at 24:40.
