Men’s Cross Country Team Honors Runners

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men’s cross country teams doled out honors at its annual awards banquet Monday (Nov. 10).

The men’s team handed out 15 varsity letters. Senior Len Weddel (East Tawas, Mich./Tawas Area HS ) was awarded his fourth varsity letter. The team voted junior Steve Genther (Laingsburg, Mich.) as team MVP.

Other award winners for the men include:


  • Most Improved: Jesse Evans (Cheboygan, Mich.)

  • Most Dedicated: Cortland Seaver (Freeland, Mich.)

  • Most Outstanding Freshmen: Nick Ekel (Elsie, Mich./Ovid-Else )



Earning their third varsity letter:


  • Kellen Duke (Linden, Mich.)

  • Steve Genther (Laingsburg, Mich.)

  • Ben Knizacky (Custer, Mich./Mason County Eastern)

  • Ben Richards (Goodrich, Mich.)

  • Cortland Seaver (Freeland, Mich.)

  • Derek Stone (Metamora, Mich./Lapeer East)

  • Jeff Wilson (South Lyon, Mich.)
