SVSU Men Compete at Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California

AZUSA, Calif. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's track and field team competed in the 2015 Bryan Clay Invitational this weekend (Apr. 16-17) which was held at Cougar Stadium on the Azusa Pacific University campus.

Competing in the 1500 meter run for the Cardinals was sophomore Andrew Plude, who placed 134th of 208 with a time of 4:03.75.  Junior Josh Simmons ran in the 400 meter dash, taking 13th with a time of 49.09.  In the 800 meter race for Saginaw Valley was Andrew Middleton who crossed the finish line in 1:54.50 for a 36th place finish.

Robert Tarpley took 28th in the Long Jump event reaching a distance of 6.79 meters.  Tarpley also placed 25th in the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.58 meters right behind teammate Frank Sanders who took 18th with a 13.99 meter leap.  Brady Watson competed in the triple jump as well, taking 30th with a 12.95 meter jump.  Sanders and Watson also placed in the high jump event, taking 4th (2.04m) and 20th (1.90m), respectively.

The Cardinals will return to action at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships beginning on April 29th hosted by Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich.
