UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University men's track team hosted the 2015 Jet's Pizza Invitational, the first-annual edition of the track meet at the SVSU Fieldhouse.
Josh Simmons claimed runner-up honors in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.37 seconds.
Lee Chiatalas was 6th in the 400 meter run, posting a mark of 50.77 seconds.
Gerald Henderson and Travis Toye were 5th and 7th in the 800 meter run, finishing with respective times of 1:59.91 and 2:00.74.
Joey Southgate claimed 1st-place honors in the mile run, crossing the line with a time of 4:14.96 to post a solid victory. He added a second place showing in the 3,000 meter run, finishing with time of 8:35.89.
Frank Sanders had an NCAA Provisional qualifying height of 2.07 meters in the high jump to finish 3rd while Brady Watson was 4th with a mark of 1.94 meters.
In the long jump, Robert Tarpley leapt to a distance of 6.84 meters to finish 2nd.
In the triple jump, a trio of SVSU men's student-athletes held down the top part of the leaderboard. Tarpley was first with a distance of 14.44, Sanders a 14.38 meter mark and Watson 13.38 meters. Tarpley's mark was an NCAA Provisional mark and fieldhouse record while Sanders' was also good enough for a provisional mark.
The men's weight throw saw Devin Hartnagle post a distance of 16.86 meters.
Andrew Mudd claimed the heptathlon for the Cardinals, posting a score of 5,002 in the event.
The Cardinals return to the oval on Friday, February 6th for the SVSU vs GVSU Dual Meet.
